I've got the new weatherproof and waterproof Olympus 720 SW camera in my hands now. I've been shooting with it for a few days and thought I'd share a couple of samples. This weekend I'll be taking it to the first big mountain bike festival of the year, the Sea Otter Classic, in Monterey, CA. It won't be taking the place of an SLR. But I will make sure to shoot a lot with it. I'm hoping this camera lives up to the promise of being the ultimate outdoor camera. And the weather has been terrible here, lately! So we may just get to test it in the crappy conditions it was designed for.
Hope these look ok. They have been edited and they look like crap on this laptop. I set them up on my desktop, but they look really dark on this LCD. I'm getting frustrated with all my calibrated monitors looking different. I don't trust this laptop monitor one bit, though.
The first photo is Francis, the company founder. You can ultimately blame him for this site
The second photo is from a bike shop we visited yesterday. The photo has been edited, including some masked adjustment layers. So don't think either of these are straight out of the camera. The photo of Francis was taken at ISO 100 and it's very, very clean. The bike shop photo was taken at ISO 200 and there was noticeable noise, although I didn't find it bothersome.
