    Nikon 3700 Lens drama's

    G'day,

I have a Nikon coolpix 3700 that i have had drama's with of late with unfocused pictures and at last the camera not working at all. At the moment when i turn it on the sreen says "Lens Error".
I have noticed the last 6 months that the lens was a bit noisy when moving in and out.

My question is! Is this an easy fix or not worth fixing at all?? The camera is adequate for what we need.

    Thanks.

I had a 4700 and would get that message when the lens was stuck for different reasons.
Don't know from experience or expertise but would guess the fix is more than its worth with so many newer and less expensive options out there now.
    Keep Shooting!

    Re: Nikon 3700 Lens drama's

This happens often in point and shoot cameras because the tolerances of the gears are so tight that it's relatively easy to knock them out of alignment. If it's still under warranty, I'd send it in to Nikon to deal with. If not, then try cycling the camera on/off several times and then reset it to reload the firmware. I'd also try a fresh lithium ion battery if you've had it awhile. Over time, LiOns can lose their capacity and can begin to cause these types of errors. Lastly, if all else fails, it doesn't hurt to send it in for a repair estimate.

But understand that the average cost of a camera repair is around $180. As such, it may
cost more to repair than it is really worth. The rule of thumb is that if the estimate
for repair is north of 50% what you paid for it, you're better off taking that money and
buying a newer and upgraded model.
