So ime a computer techie, a mountain bike freak, a rugby fanatic, but i would really love to learn photography. I want to get a good digital camera on a budget, say $300. Ime really new at this so i just wanted to know what some more experienced people would know about an entry level digital camera.

For lots of outdoor activities, you will need the built-in protection for your camera. Look at the Pentax weatherproof cameras (JIS-9) or the lesser but still OK Olympus splashproof cameras. Both lines produce excellent images and are easy to use.

I have an Canon SD 300 (like new, bought in late june) im looking to sell if your are interested. There are a few people interested so let me know soon if you are. But i would have to recommend any Canon camera i love them. My dad is a photographer nothing digital though, and he is a Canon guy as well.
