    new megazoom for NEWBBB

hey guys! up until a month ago, i've had canon elphs...but i'm looking to get more zoom
currently i'm looking at canon sx10, panasonic lumix tz28, fujifilm s8100fd and maybe nikon p80 (90)
i've been on amazon and googled lots of reviews including cnet.com... kind of at an impass...all of them are priced around 300.. so anyone can provide some insight that would help me choose, it would be awesome!

    thanks!

Well, the Panasonic has only half the telephoto reach of the Canon. If you want that super zoom, then I'd kick panasonic out of the short list. Then again, if being more pocket sized is a plus for you, it may be worth keeping in. The Fuji has a sensor based image stabilizer versus the Canon/Nikons optical image stabilizer, there are pro's and cons to this as well - it will save battery, but you don't get a live preview of the stabilization.

Its always been my experience that Canon gives the best bang for buck in point and shoot digicams. I've also experimented with the SX10 myself, and its a solid machine, with the best tilt/swivel LCD function of the bunch. The Nikon only has a slight tilt for its LCD, and the Fuji and Panasonic have nothing.

*edit - Just discovered the Panasonic has no manual modes, no manual, no aperture or shutter priority. In my mind, this turns the camera into a toy. I would definitely kick out the panasonic and never look back.

Also - Dave from Imaging Resource (way better than CNET) gave the Canon the thumbs up 'Dave's pick' award, he did not give it to Nikon (and didn't review the Fuji). If I were you, I'd def go for the Canon.

I've had the Canon S3 IS for a couple of years, and I just bought the new SX10 IS. I highly recommend it.
