    Smile Need a new lens

    i currently own a pentax k100D with the kit lens and i am wondering if anyone knows what a good second lens would be???

    Depends on what you want to do. What do you like/want to shoot? Landscapes? Portraits? Birds? Insects/flowers? etc. Different lenses for each type of shooting. There is overlap but it's best to cater to the most important to you and go from there.

    That being said, I think it's very common to see something in the 70-300 range as a second lens for a lot of people...

    Okay good. Sports and wildlife share a couple things in common. Often you'll have to shoot from a good distance away and you'll also have to shoot fast to freeze the action. So try looking for telephoto lenses that will land you in the 200mm to 300mm range. You'll probably want to shop for the fastest one you can afford as well.
