I need help picking out a camera I'm getting for my girlfriend. She is not an experienced photographer at all. She wants something "small", but I don't think ergonomics should be compromised too much, she is notorious for getting a thumb or strap in the shot, so something comfortable to hold is a must, but a compact size is also preferable. I'm looking to spend around $200. She will probably use it for your standard party/vacation/ect type snapshots as well as some landscapes and maybe some macros. If it has a black and white effect and a snow scene mode that would be great, I can picture her using both. A 4x lens or above is prefered. AA would be the prefered power source, if not something that is easily charged on the road (no docking station required). Manual settings are pretty much a non issue. Video (with sound) would be nice. Durability and ease of use are also major factors.
Its funny when I went looking for a camera for myself the search seemed so much easier, I only had a few to pick from. Searching for this type of camera seems to be a very daunting task. Right now I'm just looking for a starting point for this search.
Thanks in advance for the help.
