Need help with my Nikon camera...

I'm not sure what kind camera I have but it's a Nikon and also have D5000 on the camera. I just bought it last October. Recently, when I try to take pictures, an error would come up and it only take half the picture. The message is "Error. Press shutter release button again." I don't know what is going on and how to fix it. Can someone please help me or direct me on what I need to do. Thank you in advance for all your help.

See page 223 of your Nikon D5000 user guide. Doesn't look good.

"Release shutter. If error persists or appears
    frequently, consult Nikon-authorized service
    representative."

I have no idea what it could be. I don't have a D5000, just the user guide.

Hi there, I think it's the best jcandi can do at the moment, I am just wondering if the unit is still under warranty?
