Need Cam with Manual Controls < $350

    Hey guys,

What are the choices (between current or discontinued cams) if I want as much versatility as possible in setting: exposure, aperture, focus, shutter speed, white balance, and sharpness level, but I want to pay less than $350?
From the research I've done thus far I gather there's the Minolta s414 (though with only 2 aperture settings), the Canons: a60/a70/a75/a80 and the Olympus c-4000, any others?

Thank you for giving some model numbers, so I'd know you're seeking Digital. My expertise is mainly with Minolta, and primarily with Film.

To broaden the range of choices, within your budget, I'd recommend considering Refurb units (with a warranty) - and searching eBay regularly.

In particular, I can recommend eBay seller 'Moonbuzz' - who is presently handling a large batch of Minolta refurb units, including some digital models. I've been seeing the DiMage 7Hi, for example, going in the $300 range among their listings.

I just bought a 75-300 D zoom lens for my Maxxum 7 from them. Sold as a refurb - with 6 month Minolta warranty - but it is absolutely Mint. Almost 'better than new' - and certainly cheaper.

The 7Hi seems like a nice cam, but a little on the noisy side from the reviews I've read (I guess I didn't mention that the lowest possible shadow noise levels are a priority for me also). Thanks for the reply though, I'll be sure to keep Moonbuzz in mind when I go deal hunting. ;)
