Need advice on point and shoot purchase

Looking to buy a new point and shoot camera. This will mainly be used to shoot outside helicopter photos (landing and taking off) and indoors at my boys basketball games. Specs I would like are a 20+ optical zoom and over 10 megapixels. Of course, price will also be a consideration. Thanks for your advice.

I have just spent a fair amount of time researching a good point and shoot camera.
There are many great ones available, however, they all have one issue that you may not appreciate for your requirement and that is lack of speed. All of them suffer in one or more area in the lack of speed, be it start up, shot to shot, auto focusing or flash shots.
Capturing great shots of helicopters landing and takeoffs will probably require a DSLR.
If speed is not an issue, consider the Coolpix P6000 or the P90.
