    MegaPixel War On A Plateau?

Just how long and how much will this MegaPixel leapfrogging ever end? Surely there will come a time when there's just no more to cram inside that postage stamp sized sensor?
Experts say you only need 6 MegaPixels for standard prints or even up to A4 size, which is what the majority of target consumers are happy with...

Re: MegaPixel War On A Plateau?

Olympus declared an end to their participation in the Pixel War earlier this year. They seem to be sticking to the sizes they currently have and concentrating on developing better sensors and cameras in the 10-12 mega pixel range.

Even if the mega pixel race ends, companies will start another with a different camera gadget....its the never ending story, part of the merchandising of our society submerged in consumerism.

Re: MegaPixel War On A Plateau?

I think at some point the megapixel wars will end.
But only when someone comes up with a good measure of quality.

All marketing want is a number that's better than everyone else's.
Hence the push for wider angle lenses on P&S (mine is wider than yours).
Or for more zoom (mine is more x than yours).
At the moment the magic number seems to be high ISO (64000, 128000) but at what quality?

I agree - the pixel war has turned into the ISO war. - TF
