I am seriously looking into buying a new camera within the next couple of months. I am ready to get something a little more professional, and something that will allow me to do more. I currently have a Kodak Z650, which has been wonderful, and still is! I'm just ready for something else.
At this point, after much research (hours spent comparing and reading reviews, etc), I'm pretty much stuck on the Cannon XSi. It seems to be a wonderful camera. So, as I'm pretty much ready to tell my husband, "I know what my anniversary gift will be!", I read about the upcoming Cannon XS, the "little sister" of the XSi pretty much.
Since I'm not far into professional photography at this point (just beginning), and money is always a topic for discussion, I'm thinking I'll wait for the XS to make it's appearance. The differences aren't severe, and nothing I can't do without (2 mp difference, .5" difference on screen, etc). It seems that for $200 less, I'll be getting something very close to the XSi. I figure I can eventually use that $200 towards a better lense or something.
Should I wait until the XS has been out for awhile, to read the reviews? Or should I just go with my kid instinct of "I want it now!"?
I have also contemplated the Nikon D40. Seems a very good camera, and now a decent price. Which would be a better go? As far as accessories go, which (Cannon or Nikon) would be a better bet for me, someone who has nothing from either?
I'm looking for something that is versatile, has many shooting options/modes, and can accompany me anywhere.
Thank you for any input!
