Looking for a more advanced camera.

Hiya! I am currently looking for a new camera, right now I want to learn more about photography and do more with my camera. In the past years I have taken pictures of my friends and printed them out as gifts for my friends on holidays. I would like to get a camera that would allow me to focus differently on subjects and general do more outside an "auto program" mode on the camera.

So is there an advanced Point and Shoot out there that would allow me to further my skills, or would it be better to get a more advance camera?

The d500 is not an advanced point and shoot...its a dslr.
But then maybe you are ready for a dslr, Rokker.
I'm sorry you've had no other responses, Rokker.
Maybe this bump will bring some. I don't know enough to answer.
