If you can turn off the automatic features; focus the camera manually, and set the exposure manually, and set the white balance, then you will get the minimum shutter lag. That's the time from pressing the button until the camera takes the picture.

The less work the camera has to do in focussing, working out the white balance and the exposure then the quicker it will take the picture.
