Lock light meter - Panasonic DMC F7Z

Im an advanced user of Panasonics Lumix DMC F7Z and wondered (although I expect the answer is no) if there is any way of locking the light meter i.e. let the camera automatically set the light meter for a subject, then lock the meter value and move the camera to a new subject, retaining the light meter setting from the previous subject?

    Many thanks,

Re: Lock light meter - Panasonic DMC F7Z

If I'm understanding correctly, you mean lock the exposure? If that's the case, you can lock the exposure on a subject and as long as you keep the shutter button depressed half way, that exposure value will remain until you take the picture, no matter where you point the camera. However, the focus will also be locked. I've never attempted this with my FZ7, but I assume it should work to switch to manual focus and while keeping the exposure locked, manually focus. If this isn't quite what you meant, let us know.
