    Lifespan of a non-SLR digital?

I've been wanting to get a Fujifilm Finepix S6000fd, (an SLR like, point and shoot) but am waiting for the price to come down. So I happened to be in a Ritz camera store buying some b&w paper for my daughter. I asked if they had an S6000 I could look at. The salesguy said they were sold out. Then he said he thought that the S6000 was discontinued. I said that it just came out in Fall of '06. He said that six months was about right for a model. Is that correct? Is it possible that Fuji is no longer producing this model? I want the price to come down, but I don't want to miss out on it. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Lifespan of a non-SLR digital?

The S6000 was announced July of '06 but evidently did not make it to shelves until just before Christmas.
Visiting the fuji web site, they don't have the S6000 listed. They do have an S6500 but it was announced last July, too.
I didn't compare all the stats but see they both have 6.3 mp and face detection.
Are they maybe the same camera with a different name for different countries?
I did see plenty of places on line selling the S6000.
    Keep Shooting!
