    Question Lens compatability

I have a Nikon AF N6006 SLR with a Tamron 28-200mm lens. I want to go digital with a Nikon D80. Is this lens compatable??? Thanks.

    Re: Lens compatability

Yes, it's compatible. However, since the digital sensor in an N80 is smaller than a 35mm film frame, there will be a crop factor of 1.5x. That means that when the lens is at 28mm, it will be effectively converted to 42mm. So if you like to shoot really wide, you'll be wanting another lens. On the other hand, at 200mm, your current lens will be comparable to a 300mm.

There may be other, Nikon-specific issues with your lens and a newer body. I don't know those details very well. You may want to post on the Nikon forum, too. People there will be able to tell you if there are problems with the auto focus or aperture control or anything like that.
