    Issue with lens?

One of the cameras that I own (compact digital camera) has an issue with the lens, I think. The pictures and the viewfinder all show a black rounded edge on the top right. It seems to me that the camera is capturing the edge of the lens tube. Anyone have any thoughts as to what could be wrong and how can I fix it?

    Thanks

    Re: Issue with lens?

I agree about what its doing,(capturing lens tube), but no idea why.
If it was vignetting it would show in more than one corner.

if you have a teleconverter on it - it may be doing it when not zoomed in. the lens may also be knocked off its proper axis, but that seems much less likely as you would have more problems and the issue would be much more apparent.

Are you by any chance using a rubber lens hood?

If not any of the other suggestions, it is acting almost like the lens focal point is not properly centered over the sensor. Wouldn't know where to begin to fix it, other than the manufacturer.

It's definitely barreling. I'd say the lens is out of alignment and needs repair. Hopefully, it's still under warranty, unless it was dropped, then you're likely on your own.

Can you try another lens and see if the problem is the same? At least then you'll know if it's the lens or the body....
