What a way to start. I'm brand new and the directions suggest I intro myself but I have no idea where to do it. I'm a senior and looking to purchase a compact camera. Anyone point me to the right location? Thanks.

This is the right place to ask about a compact camera and as good a place to introduce yourself.
There is a 'welcome' link in viewfinder but it is often not found.

Are you a senior as in graduating from high school? college? or a person who has lots of wisdom from age?

OK - I want to buy a Canon 5D. I am interested in photography of weddings, people, and some landscape.

what lenses would anyone recommend?

I am considering the following lenses:

16-33mm L series Canon
24-70mm L series Canon
70-200mm L series Canon

PLease help with any suggestions or objections for these or any other recommendations.

Please let me know how i can start my own thread if possible too.

Yes, esteban, you can start your own thread.
I would suggest going to the Canon camera equipmentforum and when you open it there is a 'new thread' tab at top left, just above the forum posts.
I'm not a canon user so can't help with your questions.
