Somehow, I missed the polarizing thing.
If the step ring fits the camera and the filter fits the step ring, I suppose you can use it.
Probably not a circular polarizer which is what you want for a digital camera.

Also probably a cheap filter that won't help your images much.

You should be able to use this filter with the type of camera that you have. I use linear pol.. filters with a number of non-slr digital cameras without any problems with exposure or focussing. Try it and look for any optical problems that may occur. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

This filter has a smooth end with the filter size and name on it, and a ridged end on the other, so witch end screws on the camera,or do it make a differance? The smooth end has the threds inside and the ridged end has them outside, do you follow? The two ends rotate ,so i,m pretty sure it,s a cycular poleriser.

Linear polarizers rotate as well. The linear can be used on digital (at least it does for me), test it out first though. It may interfere with autofocus, but mine doesn't. It could also interfere with the automated exposure (which means nothing if setting manually), which can also be adjusted for in exposure compensation.

Really, I have a linear polarizer, it works fine for me and I don't notice the difference with a circular at all. I don't see the point in spending another $100-$150 for something that I can't see any difference with (on my gear). Then, it may have an effect on your camera that is not present on mine, so - test it out first.

It should go in how the threading works, male to female.
