i need to know something about the Panasonic FZ20

i have a Panasonic FZ20.........i have read some reviews on this camera and most of the reviews say that the camera works very well in low lighting! But the problem is that my camera doesnt seem to work very well in low lighting. If anyone else has this camera could you please tell me the settings to put it on and if anyone has any tips/advice that they could give me it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Re: i need to know something about the Panasonic FZ20

I don't have this model, but do have the FZ3 which is basically an older model, but with many of the same features, including the 2.8 all the way through.

I haven't had good results with mine in low light either - except using the flash. You can up the ISO to 800 and see what happens. This is the only suggestion I have - besides using the flash. Maybe someone else can help you.

Also, go to the review section here - just check on reviews at the top of the page and follow the directions to get to digital point & shoots - according to brand and mp.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

    Problem?

    zeleena-
Can you please be more specific about the problem? What is it that you don't like about the low light photos? Maybe you can post an example photo? If we have something to look at we'll be able to help you better.

The truth is, no camera works very well in low light. Good technique is what really makes a difference. Camera manufacturers have come up with some features to help make better pictures in low light. But they only improve things a little. Using the right settings is definitely important. But you shouldn't expect your camera to take the same kind of photos in low light that it does in bright light. That's just not how cameras work.

Anyway, give us some more information and we can help give you some more guidance. It sounds to me like your ripe to really start learning about photography

Re: i need to know something about the Panasonic FZ20

I have an FZ20 and find it quite noisey in low light. The way I shoot in low light is to use a tripod, keep the ISO set low (to minimize noise) and set the camera to auto bracket a stop, usually in manual exposure control and with manual focus so the camera doesn't have to try that. I will sometimes set the camera to aperture priority and use spot metering. I also use the 2 second self timer to trip the shutter in order limit camera shake.

The reason I bracket is that sometimes I need to do image blendng using the bracketed shots to get the image I want.

You may also find that you need some noise reducing software to limit the noise in the final image.
