Unhappy I Need Help! Please Help Me!!

Okay ya'll this is my first time doing this, so bear with me. About 3 months ago I bumped the lens of my Sony Cybershot DSC-S700 into the wall a little bit. It shut off and I couldn't get it to turn on. The lens was out and the shutter was still open. I sat it down and left it in my office for 3 months. I finally found out that the lens was jammed so I un-jammed it and now it turns on fine but the view on my screen is extremely blurry and the pictures are also extremely blurry. Anybody know what I can do? I love my camera. It's been to Iraq and back with me.

Bummer man, I think it time for a new camera. That doesn't sound like it's repairable.
Olympus offers a shock proof camera. My backup camera is a model 1030SW. Check one out.

Yeah, I think its a paperweight now but you could always send it in to see if its repairable.

My guess is that the camera is done. It sounds like you screwed up the lens position when you bumped it into the wall. You may have unjammmed it, but the it's not positioned corretcly for focus anymore. And usually getting a compact digital camera fixed isn't worth the cost. Unfortunately, they're pretty much disposable in that respect. You'd have to get an estimate, and that will cost you. Since the camera is going on a year old now, I think you should probably just buy a new one. I'm sure that's not what you want to hear. But it's better than investing a couple of hundred dollars to fix a camera that you can replace for $300.

If it can be done with a hammer and duct tape, I can fix it.

You can buy a new one of these cameras for $125 or less nowadays. It would cost you more than that to get it repaired.

FYI: Here's some brand new ones selling on ebay for under $125 including shipping - if you wanted to bid on an auction, you could probably get one for well under $100:

    S700

    Doug-
    Wrecked said "S700." Unless it was a mistake, that's a compact / point-and-shoot camera: Sony Cybershot DSC-S700

In either case, I think replacing the camera is probably the best thing to do. If it is the camera you're referring to, it's ancient. For either camera, it will cost more than it's worth to fix it.

You're right. I edited my post. That camera can now be bought brand new for $100-120.
Of course, if buying a new one, there are nearly infinite choices out there.

BTW, I wish these manufacturers wouldn't keep re-using the same or similar model numbers on very different products.
