    What's your budget? Have you looked at the Olympus E-330 digital SLR? I believe it should offer all the functionality you're looking for and have much better image quality than the G6 or the A630.

    Breeze Systems makes remote software for most of the Canon digital cameras:

    [url=http://www.breezebrowser.com/PSRemote/index.htmBreeze Systems PSRemote >>[/url]

    They list the A620 and A640, but not the A630 in their list of compatible cameras. It's possible that the A630 would work, though. I would contact Breeze Systems to find out.

    I also noted that they list the S3 IS, which might be a much better alternative than the A630. It's got a longer zoom lens, the LCD features you want, and it also has image stabilization, for when you want to use the camera normally. Image stabilization will produce worse quality pictures if you use it while the camera is on a tripod.

    Hope that's a solution for you. I've been using Breeze System's BreezeBrowser software for years, so I know they make useful, reliable software. Plus, as far as I know, their remote software is the only non-OEM solution available.
