Help with new camera purch. Sports/Family

Looking to purchase a new camera for the main purpose of taking action sports shots and general pics of the family. Primarily Baseball, soccer and golf. My goal is to be able to get 6 - 10 shots of a swing. Most of my pictures will be outside, say 80 outdoors/20% indoors. Size and weight are not a big issue. Most pics will go to pharmacy or wally world for processing so would sac. great quality for simplicity. I am a complete amature when it comes to photography but learn quickly. Please, I would love for someone to give me a few tips. Budget is really not that important but would not like to be labeled "sucker" when I walk out of a store - thank you very much.

I appreciate your help, thanks in advance.

    Paul,

    Welcome to the forum.

What you are asking, "6-10 shots of a swing", is in the DSLR category. I have a Canon XTi and this camera has a continuous shooting of 3 fps, that also depends on what setting you have. So if a normal swing is less then 2 seconds you are going to need something like this, http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/co...elTechSpecsAct.

I could be wrong, as others with more information should chime in.

    Hey Paul!
If you want your cake and eat it too, I recommend the Canon 40D....and the only place I recommend buying it new would be here.....

I have spent 1000's of dollars here and have NEVER had a negative experience.

This camera has everything you need to accomplish what you want to do and its very easy to use. You get a whole lotta camera for your money with this baby.

The lens I recommend you start out with is the 70-200 2.8 Canon if you can afford it or the Sigma is just great....go here, these guys also did a good job...

The 70-200 will be a great portrait lens but a super awesome sports lens. I have 3 lenses in my cache and the one on my camera the most is my 70-200...I call it my "walk around lens"...lol

Well, there is my 2cents....I have shopped these items extensively so do not hesitate to give me a shout if you have questions!
