I need a new camera which has all the advanced features such as macro, advanced shutter options etc. A bit like the features the canon powershots have. Instead though I would like a thin camera more like the sony bur still with the advanced features. My budget is around £250.

Take a look at the Casio Exilim cameras. I did a review of the Casio Exilim EX-Z750 last summer. It has pretty much everything you could ask for in a pocket-sized camera. It's been replaced by the Exilim EX-Z850 now. But the cameras are pretty much the same except that the 850 has an 8-megapixel sensor.
