Genius G-Shot P5143 do you have it , and what do you think,

    Hi!! my first post.

Does anybody has the Genius G-Shot P5143 camera?

i know is not even a semi decent trademark, but i want a camera for taking pictures of magazines, papers, books, that kind of things. So it needs to be readable and nothing more. But i want the cheapest that can do that.

I'm a newbie to all the photography terms and stuff, so maybe you guys can guess something from the specs

I've never heard of it. And I generally recommend against buying cameras from any manufacturer that isn't a "real" camera company. Likely, this is a Chinese or Taiwanese made camera with a marketing company's name on it. Looking at the specs, I see it has no zoom, doesn't appear to have a memory card slot, and has a maximum sensitivity of ISO 200. For me, none of that would be acceptable. And unless you use a tripod or shoot outside in bright sunlight, photos of print will probably be tough. I'd say it's a bad gamble, at best. I'd recommend spending more and buying the Samsung.

Re: Genius G-Shot P5143 do you have it , and what do you think,

yeah, i tried looking for pictures but found nothing.

this manufacturer is more or less common here, it makes mouses, keybords, speakers... that kind of stuff, in fact my father bough years ago a 2.0Mpixel genius camera, which was kind of cheap compared to the more expensive brands. But It still works okey.

about this one, in the overview page says that supports SD cards

    Key features:
    Multi-Scene Mode
True 5.0 mega pixel CMOS sensor
    VQA & QVGA video recording
    Web Camera Function (Windows 2000/XP/Vista)
    2.5” LPTS LCD display – 154K pixel
    4X Digital Zoom
Supports up to 4GB SDHC card
    Direct Print function

for proportion purposes, this camera costs 33, the samsung s630 costs 50, and the canon a550 costs 80. In the kind of work i'm gonna use it, the cheaper the better, apart from taking text pictures, i'm going to carry it around everywhere in case i need it, so it may get damaged or stolen, that's also why i don't want to buy an expensive one.
