fuji S100fs

Well, After spending the past few weeks reading everything I could find on the Fuji S100fs, I decided to buy one...I should note that the common knock is PF and so I was fully expecting that. Well after a day of shooting with this beast, I have nothing but praise for it. No PF what so ever. I am guessing Fuji fiixed this problem, or perhaps the B+W UV filter I added to the lens took care of it....The image quality is nothing short of brilliant and the shake reduction works very well...It is as sharp at 400 as it is at 28mm....This camera walks circles around my Fuji S9100 and I so far have it equal with my Canon G9. My only complaint is that it is a tad slow to auto focus, but I am also comparing it to my DSLR's so take that with a grain of salt...Although the G9 does auto focus faster....I will post some images as soon as I have them processed.
Right now on a scale of 1-10, I give it a 9

Some pictures at 800 ISO ...This amazed me from a point and shoot...As much as I love my Canon G9, It can't do this....But I also realize that this F100fs is a Bridge camera and behaves very much like an SLR and given Fuji's great rep for putting out cameras with great ISO performance, it is no surprise.

I am also worried about the PF on the Fuji. I am trying to decide between the Olympus SP-570 and this Fuji s100fs. So you don't see any PF? Do you have an external flash for this camera? If so what do you recommend.

Yes Fuji has a great rep for their noise performance, their super ccd technology works wonders! I am surprised that they are the only sensor developer that still does this, the technology has been out for years!

Sort of makes me wonder of the possibility of a Super CMOS sensor technology, octagonal pixels on a CMOS, perhaps ISO 3200/6400 can be very usable in the near future?

Yes, those are all with the built in flash. I do have an external flash, but have not used it yet. Have not had a reason to.

I have a generic Sigma external flash for it. It has a universal mount, so there are plenty of flashes available for it.

A TTL flash is useless on this camera. Is that correct?

Good question. I don't know. I do have some TTL flashes for my pentax cameras, I wonder if they will work .. hmm

The more I read they all say the PF is a big issue with this camera. So you are telling me that if you took a picture in a high contrast area. In bright sunlight, lanscapes, buildings, etc... You don't see any of that PF problem.

Believe me, I am sure I read many of the same articles you read. In fact, on more than one occasion, I went to order the thing and changed my mind. Ultimatly, I decided to buy it from B&H because I know their return policy is very good. So I shelled out the the $700.00 clams and the first day out with it, I did everything I could to try and bring out this PF. It never came....I have never tried it with out the UV filter for the fear I would see the dreaded PF... but now having owned it for a while, perhaps I will remove the filter and see if I can see this PF. Now it does not matter as I really like this camera and know this is not an issue for me..I shoot allot at the beach, landscapes, and nature..No such problem for me.

At the end of the day, It is your hard earned money, so you need to decide. Don't let me or anyone else sway you one way or another..

By the way, this camera comes with a huge hood. I wonder if when this was tested by some of these test places if they used the hood?

I take it you don't use the hood. Is that correct? I really love this camera. I am going to probably order it tomorrow. I always order from B&H photo. I do quite a big business with them. They are excellent. I will also order that same B+W filter you have. I would be curious if you take the filter off if you see PF. I was also just reading that Fugi may release a firmware fix for this camera to correct PF. I don't know how true that is but it really doesn't matter for you. I will let you know how I make out when I get mine. It sounds like we shoot the same kind of stuff.

I always use the hood when out doors, but indoors or with flash, I remove it.

I have never removed the filter. That pic is also old. One of the first I took with the camera to try and get the PF, So I shot at a black bird into the sun between green trees.
