Infrared Lenses, able to see through stuff?

Hi guys, Im a newbie here. I have a Canon EOS 10D hand-me-down(yeah i was lucky haha). Anyways the thing is, just yesterday, I spilled soysauce on my english textbook, on a very important page too! LOL. Teaches you never to study while eating noodles.

Anyways, i tried to clean it, but it's soaked and it's gunna rip if i rub any harder, It's pretty think too, i dont think im gunna be able to get it off. I did some research and came across this thing.

let us scroll down to experiment # 2 and ignore our perverted tendencies hm?

it shows the camera going right through the spilled ink. I just wanna know if this works? There is a very high risk of it not working and all being a hoax to target man's daydreams, but right now I NEED SOMETHING LIKE THIS!!! Exams start in 2 weeks and i messed up a very important page >.<

i really dont trust that site, but does anybody know if the same results can be achieved with other IR filter lenses?

    thanks people

Test you digital camera to see if it will take IR shots by shooting a TV/VCR remote in the dark. If you see the light from the emitter at the end of your remote then your camera will take IR images. I'm not 100% sure if the TV remote IR wavelength is the same as used to shoot through clothes, but if it's not then even this test may not be any good.

I will say, most if not all digital cameras made in the last few years have built in permanent IR blocking filters and they won't work.

    In two weeks you can:

    borrow a classmate's book
borrow the text from the library
    buy another book
scan the page and modify the channels (or simply bump the contrast) in photoshop to reveal the text

We are talking about one page here, right?

yeah, i actually got a hold of my friend's book about an hour after this post. I still think it's a pretty nifty concept though. What do you mean by modify the channels? Is there an example of this you may show me?

Well unless things have changed since I used infrared film, infared flashes etc a filter cannot achieve the results illustrated. I have used infrared to read documents that were blocked out etc and it took a lot more than the filter(which happens to be a Hoya 25A). I have limited experience with digital, but it would be a nice feature.
