    D50 or D70s Need Help!!!

Ok so ive read so many reviews and searched a lot, but still cant come up with a solid decision.

Are the extra features with the D70s really necessary. What are the new features, and why exactly would you use them. Not to sound rude but just because i dont know and sound like a beginner, dont automatically say well by reading your post i can see your a beginner and you should pick the D50 because its easier to use. I want to know what the features the D70s have that the D50 doesnt have and what they do.

Does the D50 have exposure and spot metering controls?
Does the D50 have enough control for professionals?

I know this is a big post but a little more.

I like macro photography but its definantly not the only form of photography i do. So is a good macro lens better(not the absolute best just a decent one) or worse then using a reversing ring/close up filters/extension tubes.

What are some other good lenses you would recommend if i get the D50 or D70s?
I do all types of photography
    - landscape
    - portrait
    - macro
    - street
    - action
    - etc.

I will prob get the 18-70 DX to start with and eventually get the 18-200 VR

I also heard good things about the Digital Rebel XT. Should i forget about the D50 and D70s and go for the XT?

    Thanks for your time.

The D50 is the same camera as the D70s except for a few minor features. The most important one for me is that the built-in flash on the D50 can't control remote flashes in Nikon's CLS flash system, you have to fit a flash on the camera. I've never needed this feature yet and i don't think it's important.

Why buy two lenses with overlapping ranges? Better to get the 18-200 VR now (if you can find it). You'll probably never need to take it off the camera.

The Rebel XT is comparable with the D50 and D70s. Only you can decide which you prefer. Go into a camera shop and see how they feel, how do the controls fit your hands.

if youre getting a kit - the d70s comes with an AWESOME lens, while the d50 comes with a pretty weak lens, with a shorter focal range too...

also - the d70s does compact flash, the d50 does SD. BIG deal, so i would go with the D70S, by far, the d70s...

i know the kit lens for the D50 is bad thats why i was going to get the body only and the D70 kit lens. The SD isnt that much a problem because prices for any kind of memory are dropping. Those are the only 2 reasons you would buy the D70s over the D50?
