Hello everyone! :]

I'm looking to purchase a digital camera, and am looking for imput. I'm looking for above a point-and-shoot, but not full SLR. I really only need adjustable aperture and/or shutter speed. I'm taking an advanced lighting design class and need a camera which can capture bold, colorful photos, and dramatic angularily (is that a word?) pictures. Originally I was looking into Sony's DSC-W55 and DSC-W80 but I don't think they have enough manual control. For size and price range, they were right where I was looking.

Are there any somewhat inexpensive digital cameras that have adjustable shutter speeds or aperture?
