    Canon SD870 vs Panasonic DMC-FX500

    Hi All,
I am trying to decide between the Canon SD870 IS (http://www.imaging-resource.com/PROD...S/SD870ISA.HTM) and Panasonic DMC-FX500 (http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/FX500/FX500A.HTM).

I'm looking for point-and-shoot usage, 70% indoor photos (half where I will need flash)-- mostly of people at parties, etc. I will be viewing the picture on my computer screen, or printing 4x6 or 5x7. I like both these cameras because of the wide angle lenses and 3" LCD screens.

Which is the better option given my scenario? Price is not an issue.

    Thanks!

CG, did you use Imaging-Resources side by side comparison feature to look at the pictures they take? That's usually a good barometer of which one is the better option as the proof is in the pudding. Right off the bat, I noticed the SD870 has a better macro. Looking at sample shots I also noticed that the SD870 had sharper, and bolder colors at 200 ASA. And while both invite a noticeable amount of noise to the party at 1600 ASA, the amount of detail lost to the FX500 is unacceptable. In low light, you'll with you hadn't bought the Panasonic.

    I'd go with the SD870.
