Which camera is the best?

Hi guys,

I'm looking into getting a new camera sometime soon and was wondering what your thoughts were on the following cameras.

Nikon D50
Sony DSC-H5 (released in June)
Sony DSC-H2

Out of the three cameras listed above which one would be the best to purchase? I'm a casual photographer and the camera would be used in indoor and outdoor environments in various activities.

One thing I'm not clear on is the zoom that the Nikon and Sony has. The Nikon is 3x but has different lenses you can buy. I've read the 18-70 lense is really good. Is this better? The Sony has a 12x optical zoom.

If you like to change the lens range, maybe Nikon D50 is good to buy, this is DSLR camera, so you can have more custome function for take a good picture. But for the simplicity, maybe Sony H5 give more auto setting and ability to preview the object at LCD before take a shoot.

if you're just a casual photographer, I suggest you get the Sony.

if you want to get more advanced choose the D50, but be prepared to spend (and spend A LOT)

the real power of SLRs is in the accessories (lens, speedlights, etc.) - you usually spend a lot more buying accessories than the camera body itself.

decide on the type of photography you want to REALLY get into. a lot of people buy an SLR for the wrong reasons (just the bling).

If you are considering Sony, why not wait and check out the Sony Alpha (Minolta) scheduled for June 9th. It is a DSLR which may run to 10 megapixels and handle Minolta flashes.
