    What I really want

What I really want in digital cameras is a bigger sensor size.

Why can't we have a compact digital camera with full frame sensor size?

That will be really a great thing.

All other gadgets and facilities are comparatively useless.

Bigger sensor than what? Bigger is relative. The whole thing with the Micro Four Thirds and other compact system cameras is that they *have* bigger sensors than point-and-shoots. What are you shooting with now? Because unless you're always shooting with a full-frame DSLR, then I think wanting a bigger sensor is a mute point. And what kind of quality do you really need? I can get really excellent image quality from the Micro Four Thirds cameras in good light. And I can carry them far easier than I can a Canon EOS 5D Mk II, Nikon D3S or even an APS-C sensor DSLR.

I agree, I'm finding micro four thirds is good enough for most purposes outside racing, and even there it's more a camera body limitation than the sensor size.
But if you just have to have a full frame sensor ... hand over your wallet to the dealer!

The M9 is pretty chunky compared to a Micro Four Thirds camera, too. This is a photo of an E-P1 next to an M8. I was surprised how much smaller the Olympus was. And the Leica M8 and M9 are super heavy compared to the E-P1. Weighing it all out, I think I'd rather have an E-PL1 with the EVF, 720p video, auto focus and zoom lenses. The Leica M cameras are sweet - but not the right tool for me.

I think the M8 had a lot of issues when it was released too.

Is a Micro 4/3's mount just a way for us to fit any lense on the camera?

I am trying to read up on it online. I do not know mucha bout Digital cameras. I have only used my Minolta x700 for the past couple of years. I have never been interested in buying a digital camera since I have always been happy with mine but lately it seems like the more economical/smart thing to do. I have started searching but there is always something new and a bit more confusing than the last.

(Sorry, if it is off topic.)

Probably the lens question deserves its own thread.
    And the answer is, yes.
Because the lens to sensor distance is so small with micro 4/3 then you can fit adapters that will make a very large number of lenses fit.
Though almost none of them will work with full auto features.
Even some 4/3 mount lenses don't autofocus with the micro 4/3 adapter.

I am sorry to butt in but this is very interesting. I will have to read more into it on my own and follow this thread.

I didn't know anything about photography and everything was trial and error/research when I first got my minolta. I didn't even know there was a full auto mode. I didn't even know I could get lenses that auto focused. My friend pretty much gave me the camera in high school.

I am going to have to look more into this before I commit to buying a certain camera. This may be something useful in the long run for me.

    Thank you

Take a look at the Welcome thread in this forum. I included a whole bunch of compact system camera links in my post that should get you up to date.
