That particular nomenclature is vehemently dismissed by the camera manufacturers and marketing teams. I think its understandable why they want to get away from this name. I think a more appropriate name is mirror-less, compact system camera, or even digital rangefinder.

I was never fond of the term, "EVIL." But when I added this particular forum to the site, I researched what was getting the most searches and "EVIL" and "Micro Four Thirds" were neck to neck. At this point, I prefer "Compact System Cameras." And that's what I used when we recently gave these cameras their own section in the user reviews. Changing the name of the forum is probably in order but it has some SEO risks so I haven't wanted to do it. Might be a good time to just suck it up and get it done, though. What do you guys think? Would you prefer I change the forum name to, "Compact System Cameras Forum?"

Think so, Compact System Camera. I think I prefer the term "mirrorless", but that may be too generalized for the purpose of forums. How about "MILC", "Mirrorless interchangeable lens camera"

I think that you are trying to draw a line based on electronics vs. optics that is fast fading. The division will be about size (and the functionality allowed or restricted by size), not the light path. - Terry

Sony/Minolta - way more gear than talent.
I'm not going to speculate on anything new Olympus might be doing. However, I do want to point out that what really makes the X-Pro1 special - in my opinion anyway - is the sensor. That sensor has soooo much potential. It's not the same technology but I've got the Fujifilm X10 right now and the image quality is blowing me away. I think this is going to be a really big year for Fujifilm. I am hoping they do something else with the new sensor and I'd also love to see the X10 sensor in a pocket-sized camera. This thing is amazing!
