    Bought the Panasonic GF1

    Well even though all but one comment in my other thread suggested I get the E-PL2, the fact that it does not have Focus Assist was eventually the deciding factor and maybe a bit that the GF1 feels better made and certainly the screen looks better also I will be taking quite a few MTBing shots (action - faster focus).

    Got the 20mm lens to start with and so to my next question;

    After I get the EVF I will need to build a collection of lenses, I'm trying to stay prime based but it's a bit limiting;

    14mm (not enough difference from the 20mm?)
    20mm
    45mm

    I thought the 100-300mm eventually for those sporting/wildlife momemnts but that leaves a gap which I may or may not need filling?

    Come on Panasonic get some more primes out

    10mm & 75/80mm would be ideal for me:thumbsup:

    Thanks for your help so far

    What do you mean by focus assist?
    The E-P2 (like E-P1) has a SAF+MF setting, single shot autofocus plus manual focus override.
    It automatically detects that you have turned the focus ring and switches the display to magnified mode to assist in manual focussing.

    When you get some MTB action shots, please come by the sports forum and show you don't need Canon or Nikon to get sports photos

    The GF1 has a light(IR) that projects onto the subject allowing good AF in low light conditions.

    I will come over to the sports section as soon as I've got some shots to show, in the emantime I'll sort some of the shots taken with my 30D (now sold as i couldn't be arsed carrying it everywhere):mad2:

    Thanks for the invite!

    Either way you can't go wrong and I agree I like the looks of the GF-1 and I haven't seen any numbers on the EPL-2 but I think the Panys focus quicker. I would have thought the EPL-1 had focus assist. I know some of the Olys have an annoying pre flash the takes your subjects off guard. But the in body IS is still a big issue with me. But if you have it in the glass you will be fine.
