Do you mean AE1? I am not aware of a Canon AV-1. Does the lens have a manufacturer name on it?

Ah - thanks for the link. So it's basically an AE1 but with no manual exposure mode. That helps me get a better idea of how old the lens is.

So no brand name is a clue to how good the lens probably is. At that time, zoom lenses weren't as polished as they are now. And a no name 28-135mm zoom isn't likely to be an optical winner. Are you trying to figure out how much it's worth? Because my guess would be about $25 - at the most. I'm not an expert in old camera equipment, but I do have some experience with that era and FD (manual focus) Canon camera equipment.

Not so fast! That all depends on your perspective. Did you want to use the camera or is it gone? If you, or someone you know, has a manual focus Canon 35mm SLR, then the lens might be nice to have. Sure, it might not be the best quality lens ever made. But that doesn't mean it isn't useful. I'm sure there students and beginners out there who would love to have it. But it's not going to bring much on the used market. If I were you I'd keep my eyes open for someone who'll make good use of it and I'd give it to them as a gift

I have both camera and lense. I do not want to use the camera.
I am in the market for an SLR . In the spring or sooner.
I was planning to use the cash to help finance my future SLR.
