    Error 99

Hi Everyone, I have just joined and I need some help from anyone who can help. I have a Cannon EOS Digital Rebel XT with a Tamron 70-300mm on it. I am constantly getting the error 99 and the cannot capture the image. I am sure you can understand just how frustrating this can be. I have cleaned the contacts and taken it off and threaded it again. I have taken the battery out for a minute and returned it and still I get the error 99. I would appreciate any suggestions you have. Thanks Sanbdralynn

Try using an eraser from a penci to clean both the contacts on the battery and inside where the battery connects. This has worked well for me in the past to get rid of the dreaded error 99
Feel free to make my photos look better than I can

    Re: Error 99

    Sandralynn,
I have just found the same problem with a 300D Canon camera. The problem in this case was the lens. Evertime I atteched the lens it came up with a error 99. When I changed the lens to another one the error disappeared

I had the same issue w/one my 20Ds. Had to send it in to Canon to replace the shutter.
