From AA to Lithium ion powered-DIY

    HI,
Iam new to these forums but experienced in the ways of th camera.
Iam not sure if many of you are interested In DIY, but i have a camera that runs on two AA batteries and a Cr2016 battery(iam not sure what this does). the point that Iam trying to get to is can use lithium ion by soldering it or something?, it chugs the AA power like nothing, so I figured that a rechargable battery would be best,
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

The Victim: A Canon Powershot A300, 16mb Compact flash, 3.2 Megapixels,5.1x digital zoom, yeah i know i should have upgraded already.

A rechargable CR-V3 should work in your camera without any modifications. Well, it may, check and see if it fits.

Canon also warns against using Lithium batteries in the manual. I assume you're prepared for the possibilty of destroying your camera with this project.

I've never used any rechargable CR-V3 battery in any camera, since I'm okay with the performance of AA NiMH rechargables. You have tried them, haven't you?

Why not just try reachargeable NiMH AA batteries at like 2500 or 2700 mAH? I picked up a set of 6 2700mah Sanyo AAs, 2 900mah AAAs, and a charger for about 20 bucks at costco....then I did it again.

That's right, get rechargables and never look back. Buy a 256 card 4 rechargables and a charger and you will be quite happy until you decide to upgrade(which you don't need to do if your happy with your images)

I like to fix stuff myself too

You can always charge and change your batteries yourself
