canon repairs?

Can someone walk me thru this? I've got the 70-200 f/4L, which needs repairs. I'm assuming I send it to Canon? Not to B&H (it's about 8 yrs old). I replaced it with the f/2.8, but I'd like to get this working, assuming it can....

Hey Adina,

You might want to look into getting it fixed at BDC Camera Repair in Madison. I have taken a couple of things to them in the past. Drop it off or ship it to them and they will call you the next day with an estimate. If for some reason they can't fix it (can't get the parts etc.) they will send it into Canon for you. That's what they did with my Sigma lens. I also had them fix my DRebel body when the button you press to remove the lens fell off!

If you want to send it in to Canon, I think the closest service center is in New Jersey.
