Canon Rebel 35mm - Blurry Viewfinder

Hello everyone, I just bought a 35mm Rebel off of craigs, and the viewfinder is really blurry. I know because even the meter is blurry. There is no dioptor like in the newer rebels, so how do I fix this?

    Thx

Is the external lens element of the eyepiece clean? Soft lens cloth with a bit of cleaner on it and work it around and see if that takes the 'smudgies' off!

If that doesn't work let us know!

Yup the external one is clean but still blurry. So what do i do? Open it up to clean the other layer?

Re: Canon Rebel 35mm - Blurry Viewfinder

Sorry I didn't get back sooner!

Is the mirror clean? If not get a shop to clean it and then also have them check to see if it is seating properly and not de-laminating.

A de-laminating or already degraded mirror isn't worth repairing in this series of cameras.

The only other possibility that I can come up with at the moment is that the viewfinder has come loose from the body or something else has shifted. Lots of press fittings and glue or adhesives in these bodies. If you can press the viewfinder 'back in' and that clears up the problem, pun intended, try a spot of cyanoacrylate (SuperGlue) to hold it in place.

If none of this helps, the camera may be a goner, sorry.

Let us know !! Fingers crossed.
