Does anybod own a Canon 50mm 1.0?

Does anybody here own a Canon 50mm 1.0? I am just curious what you think about it... I know there are some reviews on the internet but I am interested in your personal opinion...Any better than any of the Canon 50mm lenses?

My understanding is it's more of a specialty lens. Very soft and dreamy stopped down. I don't think it's too different or better than the other 50mm when you stop it up.

This is word of mouth (or rather, word of internet), I've never used it firsthand.

I've used one. Wish I owned it. I like it a lot better than the 85/1.2. Completely different character to the bokeh than the 85.

I just checked the prime lens user reviews and w've got ten reviews and thirty Quick Ratings for the Canon 50mm f/1.0 lens. The reviews at the top are pretty detailed too, so there's a lot of information to be gleaned.

I don't know if "better" would be the best word to use comparing it to the other canon 50mm lenses. I think they're all very good. But if you want crazy shallow depth-of-field and low light shooting ability the 50mm f/1.0L lens is one-of-a kind.

I don't own one although I had the chance to. I shot it and was disappointed in the lens. Focus was snail slow. The 50mm f1.2 is slow but the old 1.0 is slower. It was soft wide open, and yes I know it has a razor thin DOF, but i was shooting the 70mm focus test chart. It was softer than the newer f1.2 version.

It was a beauty to hold and have on a body. It would have been fun to have in the collection, but I just couldn't justify the price, when the f1.2 out preformed it. It may have been the copy I was looking at, it was and older version of the f1.0. Here are some reviews on it and the f1.2 if you are interested.
