    The 200mm f/2.8L

I've always thought this lens is an often over-looked and relatively inexpensive gem. In this age of super zooms, I feel that primes are losing their appeal. My friend was nice enough to lend me his brand new 200mm for me to test this week to prove/disprove my belief.

First of all, the 200mm has the size & weight advantage over the 3 lenses I will be testing this lens with:

    70-200mm f/2.8L IS (for 200mm to 200mm tests)
180mm f/3.5L (to compare against the 200mm with extension tubes)
300mm f/4L IS (to compare against the 200mm with Canon 2X TC)
