Westinghouse Digital Expands into New LCD Display Market with Digital Photo Frames; Stylish LCD Frame Accepts Six Flash Card Standards Including XD
SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13, 2005--Westinghouse Digital Electronics, a leading North American LCD TV and monitor provider, today announced its entry into the digital photography marketplace with the introduction of its Digital Photo Frame (model #DPF-0561), allowing multiple photographs to be displayed in a single frame.
The 5.6-inch LCD display is easily customizable to match any home or office decor by attaching the included interchangeable mahogany, black or brushed aluminum frames. Ideal for displaying wedding photos, birthday parties, anniversary celebrations, photos of loved ones, and other special events, the frame allows consumers to create a slideshow or view individual digital snapshots by simply plugging in a digital camera memory card or downloading images from the computer's hard drive via a USB port.
"Digital cameras are transforming the way consumers take pictures, but their cherished memories still remain locked and often lost on computer hard drives or flash memory cards," said Douglas Woo, president of Westinghouse Digital. "Digital photos are best shared electronically and this frame provides an affordable display solution for sharing favorite digital photos with family, friends and co-workers."
The Westinghouse frame is one of the only digital photo frames currently on the market accepting the XD memory card. It offers 8MB of internal flash memory for storing images and is also compatible with CF I/II, MS, SD, and MMC flash memory cards. The slim design fits conveniently on a nightstand, mantle, desk, or coffee table, or mounts onto a wall.
Using the control keypad on top of the frame, consumers can advance pictures one at a time, or view the On Screen Display (OSD) by pressing the "menu" button. OSD options include a thumbnail mode, which allows users to preview all photos stored on the card and in the internal memory to select a specific photo for display, rotating images from horizontal to vertical, and choosing the speed of the slideshow, as well as selecting slideshow transition effects between images, which includes "wipe down," "checkerboard," and "dissolve."
"Our expertise in large-panel LCD TVs and monitors easily translated into this small digital photo frame display," Woo said. "More than 25 million Americans will own digital cameras by 2006(a) and we are excited to offer technology that is designed to optimize their digital photo displays."
The Westinghouse Digital Photo Frame has an estimated retail price of $149.99.
