    Sony DPP-FP30 Printer - Press Release

    SONY DEBUTS NEW PHOTO PRINTER: COMPACT SIZE, LAB QUALITY PRINTS

    SAN DIEGO, Aug. 18, 2004 — With a footprint smaller in size than an 8”x 10” portrait, Sony’s new PictureStation™ DPP-FP30 printer makes it easy to print and share lab-quality photos with or without the use of a personal computer. About the size of a standard paperback the compact FP30 printer will be available in October with an included 40 sheet print pack for about $150.

    Featuring a lightweight silver colored casing and cleanly styled industrial design (approximately 7” x 5.5” x 2.5”), the DPP-FP30 printer is a dedicated photo printer that uses dye-sublimation technology to produce continuous tone, photo- quality prints. Each photo is sealed with SuperCoat 2™ laminate which makes photos super-resistant to spills, moisture and fingerprints.

    “With the introduction of the compact and PictBridge compatible DPP-FP30 printer, Sony now offers consumers a comprehensive line of high-quality and easy-to-use 4 x 6-inch printers,” said Greg Young, general manager for Sony Electronics' Digital Camera and Photo Printer marketing.

    Fast and Easy Photo Printing
    While some users will enjoy the benefits of the DPP-FP30 printer’s PC compatibility others will enjoy viewing and printing images directly from a PictBridge™ compatible digital camera without ever having to turn on a computer. With the convenience of the PictBridge interface compatible digital cameras and camcorders can print directly to the DPP-FP30 printer via a USB cable.

    With this simple connection users can select images on camera’s LCD display and start printing. For those wishing to take advantage of the supplied photo editing software PC-direct printing is also possible via a USB cable.

    Ribbon and Paper - All in One Box
    A benefit of dye-sublimation technology is that the printer ribbon and the printer paper come bundled together in one box to deliver the ideal amount of color to each print every time. Consumers don’t need to worry about whether their paper or ink are too low since the two work simultaneously to deliver high quality prints and are easily replaced at the same time. The printer delivers 3.5”x 5” and 4”x 6” print sizes. Print packs are available as follows:

    · SVM-F40L: 3.5”x 5”: Borderless snapshots contains 40 sheets for about $20;
    · SVM-F40P: 4” x 6”: Postcard-size prints with 40 sheets for about $25;
    · SVM-F80P: 4” x 6”: Postcard-size prints with 80 sheets for about $45.
