Sony Cyber-shot T3 Digital Camera - Press Release

SONY RELEASES ITS SLIMMEST FULL FEATURED CAMERA

New Cyber-shot T3 Model Features Elegant Design and Improved LCD

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 29, 2004 - Thin, fast and good-looking describe Sony's new 5.1 megapixel Cyber-shot DSC-T3 digital camera, announced today.

The pocket-size T3 camera is Sony's thinnest digital camera to date, measuring in at less than three-quarters of an inch. And due to Sony's Real Imaging Processor circuit, this new model is lightning fast. It shoots bursts of up to four full-resolution images at three frames per second.

The T3 camera incorporates a built-in, electrically operated lens cover that opens instantly when the camera is activated. With a single push of the power button, it springs to life in under a second. The new camera will be available in October for about $500.

The camera features a large 2.5-inch LCD viewfinder, occupying roughly two-thirds of the back of the camera. The display's viewing area makes it easy to share images the moment they are captured.

The camera is equipped with a Transflective Clear Photo LCD that improves the quality of image display by preventing reflected light from interfering with it. Moreover, the new LCD's higher contrast, brightness and resolution ensure more accurate color reproduction.

"The T3 camera's new LCD makes it possible to effortlessly see your subject whether you're indoors at your child's recital or at the beach and of course its distinctive design fits any lifestyle," said Greg Young, general manager for digital still camera marketing in Sony Electronics' Personal Mobile and Imaging Division.

To keep a slim profile, the T3 camera's Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens operates internally rather than extending beyond the camera's body and its 3X optical zoom ensures great image quality. Equipped with a 0-4X SmartZoom (at VGA resolution), the camera allows you to focus in on the area of interest of your subject by cropping the image size and thus avoiding image degradation.

With approximately 180 shots per charge of the camera's InfoLithium battery, you can snap away without fear of running down the charge.

With optional Memory Stick PRO Duo cards, the camera captures and plays back high resolution moving images. MPEG-VX Fine mode allows you to record MPEG video with 640x480 pixel resolution at 30 frames per second, up to the capacity of the memory media card being used.

    Always The Right Setting

The new camera has sophisticated auto-focus and auto-exposure options to help get the picture right the first time. It allows you to choose from nine settings to match the scene - whether it's twilight, portrait, landscape, snow, beach or even fireworks - so it is easy to shoot high-quality images even in challenging lighting conditions.

The T3 camera also has a Magnifying Glass mode in which subjects appearing on the LCD screen can be magnified up to 3.3 times. This mode allows you to see and capture details that would otherwise be difficult to confirm with the naked eye.

Cyber-shot Station: Charging and A Show!

Whether placed next to a TV or PC, there's now a better place to put your digital camera other than a desk or table drawer. The supplied Cyber-shot Station USB cradle accommodates the DSC-T3 camera for playing back slideshows on a TV or transferring images to your PC while charging the camera's batteries. And when connected to a PictBridge-compatible printer, such as Sony's PictureStation DPP-FP30 digital photo printer, printing a specific image is as easy.
