Other day I heard some rumors about the Nikon D100, it may be coming back as a D100s model sometimes this year with a 8.5 megapixel. But then again, Nikon is pretty slow with the digital technology line up compere to Canon...

There have been rumors about a D100 replacement since the day after it was released! I hope they come out with something soon though...

I thought the D100 replacement going to be 10Mpix and was due for announcement in September.

8.5MPix makes no sense - there's not a big enough improvement over the 6MPix D70. Sony has already demonstrated that they can make an APS-sized 12MPix sensor - as used in the D2X. Unfortunately this is too expensive for the D200 (or whatever).

This is not especially Nikon being slow, it's Sony taking their time to come out with the next device. As soon as they release it then you'll see it used in cameras from Nikon, Pentax, Minolta and perhaps others.
