PNY 4GB SD High Capacity Flash Card - Press Release

    PNY Technologies Unveils
4GB SD High Capacity Flash Card

PARSIPPANY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PNY Technologies®, Inc. today announced upcoming availability of their 4GB SD™ High Capacity (SDHC™) card. Based on the SD Association Specification Version 2.00, the new SD memory card allows users to select a memory card according to the performance needs of their storage-intensive applications, such as high-resolution digital images and HD video recording and playback.

As personal devices gain greater functionality and require higher storage capacities, the SDHC format was created to support capacities of more than 2GB and up to 32GB to gain optimal performance. SDHC cards adhere to the SD Speed Class Rating specification, created by the SD Association, which defines a minimum sustained write speed. PNY Technologies’ SDHC cards are rated Class 4 and can transfer data at a minimum of 4MB per second to support performance requirements of today’s Class 4 (or lower) rated host devices, such as digital still and video cameras.

“As manufacturers continue to introduce host devices with requirements to capture more data at higher speeds, early adopters will be able to take advantage of next-generation features with PNY’s 4GB SDHC cards,” said Dean Delserro, senior marketing manager, flash, for PNY Technologies. “Availability of the new SDHC format keeps customers on the leading edge of technology as the emergence of greater data volume and expanding range of digital content requires increased performance and larger storage capacities.”

Only host devices that are compliant to SD Specifications Version 2.00 can access SDHC memory cards. However, most SDHC compatible devices are able to read and write to standard SD memory cards that are widely available on the market today. PNY Technologies’ 4GB SDHC memory cards come with a lifetime warranty and will be available from major consumer electronics retailers in Q1 of 2007 and e-tailers in December 2006. An 8GB Class 4 SDHC memory card will be available in Q1 2007.
