Phlash Lifts Cameraphone Photography Out of the Dark Ages; Phlash Attaches to Any Cameraphone, Providing Powerful Lighting to Enable Quality Picture Taking Indoors and at Night
VENICE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 20, 2006--Foxden Holdings, LLC today introduced Phlash(TM), the world's first universal cameraphone flash designed to provide powerful, even lighting for superior mobile phone photography.
"There are 100 million cameraphones being used today, but less than 1 percent include a built-in flash. And unfortunately, even those built-in flashes are very weak because they are often added by manufacturers as an afterthought," said Dale Fox, director, Foxden Holdings and the inventor of Phlash. "That's ironic, considering most consumers use cameraphones to take quick, candid photos indoors -- at restaurants, clubs, or other places with insufficient lighting. To solve this problem, we developed Phlash. Phlash is 12 times brighter than most built-in flashes, and allows anyone who already owns a cameraphone to finally take quality pictures indoors and at night."
Measuring just over an inch wide, Phlash resembles a cute silver button that can either be stuck to the back of a cameraphone or hung from the phone via an included strap. To use, simply press on Phlash while pressing the "capture" button on the cameraphone. Phlash emits an intense pulse of light that takes the perfect picture and also helps the user to clearly see what he or she is shooting.
The patent-pending light-emitting array built into Phlash is unique and specifically engineered to provide full-frame lighting that's even and color-balanced, eliminating hotspots and washouts. Designed for the close-up pictures usually taken with cameraphones, Phlash provides optimal performance at a distance of one meter, or about two arms' lengths away.
Phlash includes easily replaceable lithium coin-type batteries designed to provide hundreds of brief flash cycles.
"I sure could have used Phlash at the Bon Jovi concert I attended earlier this month," said Tamara Dull, a thirty-something living in Seattle. "Jon Bon Jovi spent a lot of time in the audience walking up and down the aisle next to my seat. I took nearly 30 photos of him with my new cameraphone and in every one of them he looks like a dark blob. None of my friends believe he was just a couple feet away from me."
Phlash is now available for $29.99 at www.phonephlash.com.
