Nikon has a teaser flash piece on their global Web site, with a 20 day countdown until a new, 10.2-megapixel digital SLR is announced. Hints in the promotion are the words "quality," affordability," and "photo enthusiasts." Since the D200 is a 10-megapixel camera, that indicates that the new digital SLR will be a D70s replacement with more controls, more pixels, and possibly a lower price. It should at least be more affordable than the D200.

The target date is August 9th or 10th, depending on how you interpret the countdown. We'll let you know as soon as we learn anything new. In the meantime, feel free to speculate and discuss in deckcadet's discussion on the Nikon forum.
