DRebel replacement, Nikon D50, Minolta 5D

Christmas is almost past, PMA is only 2 months away - some speculation in Chasseurs d'Images (french magazine) this month about what could be announced early next year:

Nikon are in a price war between the D70 and Canon DRebel. The D70 costs more than the DRebel to produce so there may be a simplified D70 on the market soon (D50?)

Canon could update the DRebel with components from the 300X. They may also switch over to the 8Mpix sensor used in the 20D - makes no sense to have two sensor lines running.

Logically Konica-Minolta should release a simplified 7D called the 5D.

Remember, this is all speculation.

CES - The Consumer Electronics Show, happens in just a couple of weeks. We might not even have to wait for PMA to see new consumer DSLRs. I'll keep my eyes open for press releases and make sure to post them when they're available.
