Interesting upgrade. I'm still looking at the G7. I don't use RAW simply because I don't have enough time for a lot of post processing, and I don't enjoy spending my photography time in front of the pc. So, JPEG suites me fine in a P&S. The 3" LCD screen is really beautiful - and so until the G7 price goes down, the G9 is probably cheaper at $499 since many stores are selling the G7 at $520.

The increase to 12mp in the small sensor (very slightly larger than the G7 1/7 vs 1/8), makes me wonder if the noise will be worse than the G7.

It will be good to see more sample shots.
